Storytelling at the Alte Pinakothek Munich

06.06.2025

For the special exhibition "How Pictures Tell Stories. Storytelling from Albrecht Altdorfer to Peter Paul Rubens", at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, we at soundgarden were privileged to produce a German and an English audio tour with our wonderful speakers, Maria Rabl and Jakob Riedl in German version, Maria Rabl and Philipp Rafferty in English tour.

The audio tours accompany visitors through around 500 years of painting and explore narrative strategies, target audiences, and intentions behind the canvases. What exactly do we see in Altdorfer's "Battle of Alexander"? Why did masters like Rubens copy past works of art? What's behind the Alte Pinakothek spectacular new acquisition of Hans Baldung Grien's "Mary as Queen of Heaven", on view in Munich for the first time?

Prepare to be amazed! Both tours are now available free of charge via the Alte Pinakothek web APP.

We wish all visitors a pleasant experience!
