Masterpieces in Seven Languages

19.09.2025

We have created a highlight tour for the Gemäldegalerie Berlin that is available in seven languages: German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, and Polish.

In around an hour, the audio guide tour takes visitors through 25 masterpieces, offering a journey through several centuries, countries, and art styles – from the late Middle Ages through the Renaissance to the Baroque and Rococo periods. It includes works by: Jan van Eyck, Sandro Botticelli, Albrecht Dürer, Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Antoine Watteau, and more.

Visitors will learn, for example, why Lucas Cranach, the Elder, has only women splashing in the water in his "Fountain of Youth." Or how Jan van Eyck mastered capturing sunlight in a church with almost photographic realism, or the astonishing career of the Berlin artist Anna Dorothea Therbusch in the 18th century.

A special feature of this tour are the original statements from the curators, which we, at soundgarden studio, recorded with the experts directly in front of the paintings. Their voices add personal impressions, expert knowledge, and fascinating stories – bringing the works to life in a new way.

We wish all visitors a lot of fun in discovering these masterpieces!
