From Turner to van Gogh

01.10.2025

What's special about this exhibition is that visitors to the Alte Pinakothek can now temporarily experience two Munich museums at once until December 2026. In addition to the Old Masters, outstanding 19th-century masterpieces from the Neue Pinakothek now enrich the collection on the ground floor – from Classicism to Romanticism and Impressionism to the beginning of Modernism. Thus, an entire cosmos of art history unfolds under one roof, instead of two buildings!

On display are Vincent van Gogh's world-famous "Sunflowers," Édouard Manet's Impressionist "Water Lilies," which influenced later abstract art, and Francisco de Goya's fascinating and eerie "Plucked Turkey," which speaks of war and death.

We were privileged to produce an audio tour in German, English, and Plain language for all these highlights "from Turner to van Gogh".

These are available, free of charge, via the Alte Pinakothek's Unframed app: Pocket Guide | Alte Pinakothek Unframed

We wish all visitors a great time!

Perhaps you'll even discover similarities and repetitions between the Old Masters on the upper floor and the works of the Neue Pinakothek on the ground floor...
